Today I received the email below headed Act of Treason
"My whanau express the latest media acts by those few who dont
understand the democratic process as inciting treason. Accordingly
they have sent Mark an email expressing their support for him. They
also state that the focus placed on the Kaiwhakahaere in the media
seems to be a strategy of discrediting him.
These few minority, need to understand not everyone is as uninformed
as they are.
In addition, for Awarua to send out a petition asking iwi members to
put pen to paper and ask for Mr Solomans removal shows how insidious
the lengths the minority few will go to. OOps did this go to the
wrong people????????????
So whanau, speak out, show how you find this unacceptable
unprofessional manner in which these few are presenting themselves.
We know better, we are better.

I must agree it was embarissing see all the media about Ngai Tahu and comments from Martin Solomon and Hariata Manawatu. For those that do not know the two kaumatua, they are very humble people who hate being in the front of anything so for them to say this publicly, well one needs to ask why? Mark has been a fantastic Kaiwhakahaere, a true front person for the tribe, an excellent diplomat and fighter for the Ngai Tahu (corporate) cause, but he has forgotton why he was put in that position and who put him there. He has been a poor representative for the Ngati Kuri people and has not defended our hapu as he should. He has constantly abused our hapu members and talked to them like they were below his status.
I hope the iwi reads this because they need to know what our hapu has been trying to do.
Last year a whanau from Kaikoura asked Mark to attend a meeting to sort things ‘kanohi ki te kanohi’ (the Maori way). A date was agreed to, a venue was booked it was all go. The meeting started by one of the whanau saying ‘Mark we have heard some stories about what you have been saying to the Ministry’ Mark replied its bull sh*t, you can all get f*cked and walked out saying they will hear from his lawyer. One of the kaumatua ran after him and asked him to come back so it can be sorted where Mark replied “Get F*cked, you’ll hear from my lawyer.
As everyone know’s now the emails between Mark Solomon and Thomas Kahu were bad (from Mark) another Kaikoura Executive member (all the members got these emails) called an emergency meeting so the issues can be worked out, the majority of executive members were available but Mark said he had a tangata tiaki hui to attend. The member who called the meeting said that it should take president to which there was no reply.
Then there was the thrid try to have a meeting with Mark. The Beaton-Morrell whanau asked that a meeting between all of the whanau be called so once again sort things out, this time there was no reply from Mark at all.
Ngati Kuri have tried to call a hui with Mark repeatedly so when he sends an email saying he is willing to come to any runanga meeting and discuss with the whanui was a shock as he will not even turn up for his own runanga meeting. If he shows up in March it will be his first meeting since the Hui-a-Tau.
I believe that there needs to be a clean sweep of all the TRoNT representatives and they all need to be replaced, they have forgotton why they are there and why, they are only concerned about how much putea they are paid and who gets to be on TV or in the papers. Members have said ‘what about the knowledge they have’ is all what has been happening worth it, I think not!
So whanau remember there is two sides to every story and Wally Stone’s (from Rapaki) name was not even mentioned and was not the reason why Ngati Kuri have done this.

John thinks all the Reps should go. What crap. If he and others have issues with their Rep that is for his runanga to sort out.
John is right about there being two sides to most stories. If Mark has responded badly from time to time maybe there is a reason for this as well. But let that be Kuri business and don’t bring anyone else into it.
There is many untold stories in this sorry saga. Most are best left untold.
John, the good news is that there are a number of ethical representatives who don’t carry tales to the papers and who are slowly but surely cleaning up some very unsavoury situations that have existed for some time now. They are looking to improve accountabilty and transparency of both Te Runanga and NTHC.
No more secret contracts for the favoured few. Te Runanga already reports on the contractors working for them. Maybe HC will do the same under the new regime.
No more politcally motivated “runanga development projects” where there is no accountability. The Office has almost every item of expenditure examined. Maybe HC will do better under the new regime.
What about the Murihiku fisher project. Was there favous being done there and who was to get the benefits? Maybe now we will find out.
Hopefully no more paying out unjustified and exhorbitant exit packages although there is probably a new queue forming. These are always the subject of confidentiality agreements. Here is hoping both TR and HC get this under control.
Better to pay the Kaiwhakahaere for work he is doing that paying overinflated exit packages for folks who should have been sent down the road with a kick in the pants and no references. We must stop giving the undeserving tens of thousands of dollars and our best wishes when we are finally getting rid of them.
Whenever you see a runanga chair complaining about something Te Runanga has done and lamenting the recent changes have a long think about why that might be. Why do they complain against openness and transparency? What are their ambitions? Just how many of them fancy being the Kaiwhakahaere?
They thought it worthwhile to “disclose” Mark’s salary by way of lying about the true amount to embarass Mark. Would they be complaining if they or their mates were in Mark’s position? Will they be so keen to own up to what benefits they were getting or hoping to get under the old regime?
So John is dead right. There is more to the stories in the media and round the runanga grapevine than the soundbite headlines suggest.
So John, beware of those who come to your runanga and tell you that you need to replace the Reps who are doing the cleanup job. Could it be that they want a return to the bad old days? In other words - ask them outright what is in it for them?

Hemi seems to know something we all should know.
I wonder why Nuk wants to be the Chair of Rapaki? I notice that it was only the Chairs of various runanga that get to be on tele expressing their outrage about this or that. Surely it must be more than that. Nuk and his mates must want to be more than the Chair of their respective Runanga because that is a pretty thankless task.
So Hemi, if you know more do tell.

I read with interest in the ODT that Tahu Potiki is interested in free speech and at the same time he is complaining that someone has apparently read some e-mails he may have hoped no-one but a select few would read.
If Tahu wants free speech then let us get it on. Should we not also have freedom of information as well?
Does Tahu agree that the rest if the tribe should know who has been paid and for what over the last few years before and after he was in charge or is that not the kind of open dialogue he is looking for?
As a former CEO Tahu is well aware that misinformation is harmful to the tribal interests. Misinformation is not free speech. Misinformation designed to do harm to advance your own personal agenda and personal interests is not free speech.
It is not a secret that Tahu does not like Mark Solomon and that he thinks the world of Wally Stone. It is not a secret that Wally Stone does not like Mark Solomon and he does like Tahu Potiki. So what is the secret??

This reply is for John - you got part of the story right, but mostly wrong which is quite normal for you, isn’t it? fact is you have always had a tendency to bend the truth big time, especially if you are going to gain monetary wise out of it.
The kanohi ki te kanohi meeting with the Kahu’s had absolutely nothing to do with Ngai Tahu, or the position of the Kaiwhakahaere, it was over something Mark Solomon was supposed to have done or said about the Kahu’s.
The information the Kahu’s were given originated from Waewae - wow, isn’t that strange. Fact is that if the Kahu’s really want to know the truth they can contact Internal Affairs and ask them for a copy of the letter that was sent to them suggesting that a certain business be audited and when they get the letter they will find that the signature is that of Martin Solomon - not Mark Solomon, apparently Martin was fighting with his sister at the time.
There are also quite a few ‘whanau’ members that know all about it and strangely enough they all live in Kaikoura. They have continued to carry on the lie that Mark Solomon had done this very bad thing.
You state that Mark Solomon doesn’t attend the Runanga meetings - LIAR all you need to do is check the minutes, you know John, they are a record of the runanga meetings and have a list of all that attend.
You also state that Mark Solomon does not do a good job of sticking up for Kati Kuri, actually - he does. I know that if I was him, I would have great difficulty in standing up for those people. They continously are at each others throats over the most trivial things.
So John, climb back into your hole and continue playing the vicitim, that is what suits you best and while your in there - try and improve your spelling.

Kia Ora
I was just wanting to no if Mark or should I say anon or Hemi has he spoken to the Kahu whanau about the letter he is referring to or is he just listening to gossip from his followers. Sad to say that our iwi is all about who can get the most votes today.

Nuk wants to be the tront rep for rapaki and the chairman, the arrogance of the man, after dragging Rapaki down to his level does he really think we would vote for him. Not a hope!! I notice most people keep referring to Tahu as the bandit, he probably is but, who is making the bullets for him to fire? I can think of two people sitting in the background pulling the strings for people like Tahu and others including Nuku to dance to.
